Terms of Service

TO BE A KING is made by Stalemate Gaming Development ("we", "us"). Last updated 2026-10-22.

1. Accepting these terms

By installing, opening or playing the game you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not play the game.

2. Ownership

The game, including its code, art, models, music, sound, text and the name and logo "TO BE A KING", is protected by copyright and other laws. All rights reserved. You get a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to play the game for your own entertainment. Nothing else is licensed to you.

3. What you may not do

• Copy, sell, rent, share or redistribute the game or any part of it.
• Decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer the game, except where the law allows this and you cannot waive that right.
• Make or distribute mods, patches or modified copies of the game.
• Cheat, exploit bugs or use bots or tools that give an unfair advantage, especially in online features or leaderboards.
• Use the game to break the law or to harm or harass anyone.

4. Purchases

The game is free to start. Story chapters 3 and later, Offline castle levels above 40, and optional items (resources, speed-ups, cosmetics, Remove Ads) can be bought in the game through Google Play; Google Play's terms apply to the payment. Prices are shown before you buy. Unlocks and cosmetics are one-time purchases. There are no subscriptions, no season pass and no random or loot-box items: you always know exactly what you get. Content you had already reached before purchases existed stays yours for free. Use Restore in the Royal Shop to get unlocks back on a new device. Refunds follow our Refund Policy and Google Play's rules; refunded or charged-back items are removed.

5. Virtual items have no cash value

Resources, speed-ups, cosmetics and other virtual items are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to use them in the game. They are not money or property, have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for real money or anything of value, and cannot be sold, traded or transferred outside the game. We may change or rebalance virtual items for game reasons. If the online service or the game ends, unused virtual items end too; we will give reasonable notice where we can. Online, resource and speed-up purchases have daily limits to keep play fair.

6. Online conduct

When you play online you agree not to:

• use a username or messages that are hateful, sexual, threatening or harassing, or that impersonate staff or other people (offensive names are blocked and may be changed by us);
• cheat, use bots, scripts, exploits, modified clients or automation, or abuse bugs (please report them instead);
• run more accounts than allowed, share or sell accounts, or trade accounts or items for real money;
• attack, overload or try to break into the servers or other players' accounts;
• harass other players in our Discord or anywhere else connected to the game.

7. Suspensions and bans

We may warn, mute, reset the progress of, suspend or permanently ban an online account that breaks these Terms, depending on how serious it is, and where reasonable we will tell you why. A ban for cheating or abuse does not entitle you to a refund of virtual items used on that account, except where the law requires it. If you think we made a mistake, email us within 30 days. Offline and Story unlocks you bought stay usable offline even if an online account is banned.

8. Accounts

You are responsible for keeping your online password safe. You can delete your online account at any time (Online → Account → Delete account).

9. Provided as is

The game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will be error-free or always available, or that saved games will never be lost. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the game.

10. Changes

We may update, change, suspend or end the game or any feature at any time. We may also change these Terms. If they change, the game will ask you to accept the new version.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. This does not take away any rights you have under consumer law where you live.
